On today’s Scout Report, we take a look at three managers currently linked with the Barcelona job, and assess how good a fit they’d be at the Camp Nou. Following his side’s 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich on the opening night of the Champions League, talk of Ronald Koeman being sacked by La Liga giants Barcelona has been rife.
Managing the club during one of its biggest ever crises hasn’t been easy, but with the former Everton coach seemingly out of favour with club president Joan Laporta, it seems a matter of when and not if he is shown the door. Another former Everton boss in Roberto Martinez is apparently Laporta’s first choice – but while his work with the Belgium national team has been admirable, his records with defences count against him.
We also take a look at club legend Xavi, who will almost certainly return to the club one day, but with just Al Sadd on his managerial CV may not be experienced enough for the job just yet. And then there is Erik Ten Hag, who has carried the torch for total football at Ajax – heavily influenced by the work of Cruyff and Guardiola, could he be the most natural fit?
