Practicing Contentment with Christ - Week 2 - The Wrestle of Discontentment

This is Week 2 of a 6 week series I'm teaching on "Practicing Contentment with Christ" at 4 States Yoga in Joplin, MO - so I thought I’d share here on my YouTube channel!
This is about a 17 min yoga video that incorporates biblical scripture and a quick breath meditation. This is yoga from a Christian perspective. All are welcome.

Week 2 - 6 Weeks Series - Practicing Contentment with Christ - The Wrestle of Discontentment
Why do bad things happen in the world?
Why are there hardships in life - death and suffering, war and tragedies?
Maybe you’ve been feeling some of those things this week with all that has been happening - in Ukraine - right here in Joplin with our police department.
Tonight, we are making space to feel the discontentment. To wrestle with it. To feel the loss and the grief.
And then to give it to God. So that we can find peace - even in the hardest of circumstances.
Scripture (Paul speaking about the thorn in his side, which he said satan gave him):
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor 12: 9-10
Yoga Poses and Sequence:
-Check in - How are you feeling tonight?
-Start lying down to feel it all - loss, grief pain (cloth towel) - butterfly legs to open hips
- Seated
-Palms in lap - inhale arms up over head in circle to meet at top - holding space for feeling
-Seated goal post arms - twist R/L - and rotate down for rotator cuff
-Seated twists - twisting in all the place in the spine
-Seated cat cows circles - rounding forward w inhale, rounding back w exhale
-Hands and knees - cat cow
-Thread the needle
-Child’s pose - palms together in prayer and bend through elbows behind the head
-Hands and knees - extend R/L leg calf stretch (rock back & forth)
-Modified knee down side plank - then open to R/L, grab ankle & bend knee back
-Vinyasa - FOCUS ON OPENING THE HIPS - circle the legs with extended leg
-Knee down lunge - open hip by pressing on the inside of knee, opp arm dwn
-Wild Thing - Flip the perspective! Flip the discontent
-Knee Down Gate Pose - Back n Forth flow to:
-Modified Knee Down Side Plank R/L
-Side plank - discomfort - raise leg
-Pigeon pose - can use blocks - Child’s Pose
-Bridge pose - blocks under the hips and walk legs out
-End - Savasana - in an act of total surrender
-Body scan
-End - Give chocolate - DARK chocolate - BITTER SWEET - Enjoy the wrestle of discontent and the metaphor of BitterSweetness!
